Director Paul W.S. Anderson has announced his intention to make a Death Race 2, if this one takes it to the bank. Hardly surprising, as he’s soon going to be preparing Resident Evil for its fourth installment.
“From now on, the only car chase film I would do is a sequel to Death Race,” he says, thereby also hinting that he’s off the Spy Hunter movie.
What would change second time round? Well there would be one big difference – Anderson wants to go back to the pedestrian-killing race system.
This is obviously a reaction to the universal outrage (from those who’ve seen the original) at removing this idea in the first place. – Cars skidding around a warehouse isn’t quite the same.
Really, Anderson should have had the balls to put this in first time round. Has he forgotten than controversy sells tickets? After all, Tropic Thunder certainly didn’t lose any money from its free press
